Publisher monetization audit
A fixed-scope audit for independent publishers. We reconcile your analytics, ad server and partner reports, explain what the evidence shows, and hand you a prioritized roadmap. You keep your accounts. You approve every change.
Sound familiar?
You already earn programmatic revenue. The hard part is knowing which numbers to trust and which change deserves attention first.
Something changed between the visit and the payment, and nobody can say where.
Analytics, the ad server and partner statements count different things on different clocks.
Geography, device, inventory, viewability, page speed, demand or configuration could all be contributing.
Add a unit, move a floor, switch a partner. Each suggestion arrives without the evidence behind it.
A long list of ideas, but no ranking by evidence, effort and risk.
When an external partner manages your set-up, it is not obvious who can approve access or changes.
If one of these is your situation, the audit is built to answer it with evidence, not with a pitch for more demand.
Audit scope
We work from authorized reports and configuration evidence, such as analytics, Google Ad Manager or AdSense, SSP and partner reports, revenue statements, inventory details and change history.
| Area | What we check | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Reporting reconciliation | Reporting periods, time zones and definitions across analytics, ad server and partner statements | Separates expected differences from ones that need investigation |
| Revenue drivers | Traffic, revenue and delivery by geography, device and inventory | Shows where a change actually occurred |
| Ad configuration & demand paths | Relevant ad server set-up, demand partners and how demand reaches your inventory | Finds configuration issues before anyone adds more demand |
| Inventory & placements | Ad units, placements and inventory information | Connects layout decisions to delivery and reader experience |
| Viewability & page performance | Available viewability and page-performance evidence | Both affect what buyers value and what readers tolerate |
| Consent signals | How consent signals reach your ad set-up, where evidence allows | Gaps can limit demand without showing up as an error |
| Ownership & approvals | Who owns each account and who can authorize access and changes | Makes every recommendation actionable, not stuck awaiting permission |
What PubOS checks on your pages
Alongside your reports, the audit uses PubOS’s own technology to read your live pages: every bid, ad slot and seller. It grades the set-up out of 100 and ranks what to fix first.
ads.txt, sellers.json and the supply chain: are the companies selling your ads authorised, and how many hands does each sale pass through?
Header bidding set-up, timeouts and price keys: does every partner get a fair chance, and does the winning bid reach your ad server?
Ad slots, fill, viewability and refresh: do your ad spaces fill, get seen and sell to the right buyer?
Load speed, layout shift and ad density: do the ads slow the page or push content around?
Consent signals and user IDs: do partners receive the privacy signals, and can buyers recognise your audience?
Each finding is weighed by what it likely costs, so your roadmap starts with the changes worth the most.
Deliverables
Four deliverables you can act on.
Your reviewed metrics, systems, partners and responsibilities, with reporting differences explained.
Each material finding with its source, severity, affected systems and where the evidence stops.
Next steps ranked by evidence, effort, dependencies and risk, with the approval each one needs.
A review session to walk through the findings, then one in-scope correction cycle.
Sample: findings register format
Illustrative, not client data
| ID | Finding | Label | Evidence | Next step |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| F-01 | Ad server and partner statement use different reporting time zones | Observed | Report settings exports | Align periods before comparing RPM |
| F-02 | Share of the revenue gap explained by the period mismatch | Estimated | Method and assumptions stated | Confirm with a full month of aligned data |
| F-03 | Whether a recent layout change affected viewability | Unknown | Change history not available | Request change log; define a test |
Every material finding carries one of three labels. Observed: supported by a reviewed, authorized source. Estimated: calculated or inferred, with method and assumptions stated. Unknown: the evidence cannot justify a conclusion.
Process
The 10-business-day* clock starts when Complete Inputs are confirmed in writing, not at enquiry, payment or first file.
A 20-minute call about your website, your question, fit and who can authorize access. It is not the audit.
Written scope, fee and evidence request. Payment upfront under the agreed terms.
Written notice once permissions, named owners and usable evidence are in place.
Baseline, findings register, prioritized roadmap and any supported scenarios.
One review session. Five business days to send one consolidated in-scope defect list, then one correction cycle.
Missing evidence or scope changes may pause the clock, recorded in writing. See conditions.
Audit pricing
Every band includes the same four deliverables for one publisher operating environment. One-time fee in USD.
Scope and final quote confirmed in writing before payment.

How you pay
You pay for the diagnosis. You read the pack. Then you decide whether anything else happens, and with whom.
Step 1 · Required
A fixed fee for a defined scope, paid upfront. No production changes are included.
Step 2 · Optional
Only the recommendations you accept, separately scoped, quoted and authorized, with named monitoring and a rollback plan. Not free and not bundled.
Step 3 · Optional
By agreement only. Any performance fee would apply to verified incremental net advertising revenue over an agreed baseline, never to your total revenue.
Ways to work with PubOS
Every engagement starts with the paid audit. After it, teams that want to keep checking their own pages, or sell to publishers, can subscribe to PubOS software.
Start here · Paid
Our team’s fixed-scope review of your reports and pages. Deliverable: a findings register, a prioritised roadmap and a readout.
Add-on · Subscription
The PubOS browser extension for your team: grade any page, AI briefings, ready-to-paste fixes and before-and-after history. Deliverable: ongoing checks between audits.
For exchanges · Early access
For exchange and SSP sales teams: every publisher’s set-up, ranked into who to call, with change alerts. Deliverable: a ranked prospect list with reasons.
How we handle access
The audit reviews; it does not change production. Anything live needs separate written approval.
Your domains, analytics, ad accounts, vendor contracts, payment accounts and receivables stay yours.
Read-only access where possible, or authorized exports. Access is agreed per engagement and you can remove it.
Never send passwords, API keys, tokens, invite links, private reports or bank screenshots through this website.
Implementation needs written scope, a baseline, named monitoring and a rollback plan before anything goes live.
Still unsure? Start with your website and your question.
The paid deliverable is a scoped, documented decision pack: baseline, source-linked findings, stated limits and a prioritized roadmap. The introductory conversation checks fit; it is not the audit. You can read the pack before deciding on any further work.
Not guaranteed. The audit does not guarantee revenue, RPM, fill rate, vendor approval, legal compliance or any implementation result. It tells you what the evidence supports, where it stops and what to do first.
At first, only your public website and your question. Once scope and secure handling are agreed, we request relevant authorized analytics and ad-platform evidence, usually at least three complete recent months, six where available.
When we confirm in writing that Complete Inputs are in place: agreed scope and commercial requirements, permissions, named owners and usable evidence. An enquiry, payment or first file does not start the clock on its own.
Least-privilege, read-only access where possible, or authorized exports. You stay the owner and can remove access. The audit makes no production changes.
Yes, as a separate engagement. We first agree the accepted recommendations, scope, fee, written permissions, monitoring and rollback plan. Implementation is not included in the audit fee.
The introductory conversation checks your existing arrangements and who can authorize evidence access and changes. We do not assume a managed set-up can be changed, or that a current partner must be replaced.
Not for the audit, which is a fixed fee. An optional performance arrangement may be agreed later; it would apply only to verified incremental net advertising revenue against an agreed baseline and reconciliation method, never to total revenue.
The agreed scope includes five business days to send one consolidated list of in-scope defects, followed by one correction cycle. New questions, properties or out-of-scope work need a separate agreement.
Both. The audit is delivered by our team, using PubOS’s own page-audit technology alongside your reports. After the audit, teams can subscribe to PubOS Pro to keep checking their own pages. PubOS is not an ad network, SSP or exchange, and takes no share of your revenue.
How your ads are sold (ads.txt, sellers.json, supply chain), how bidding works, how each ad slot fills and is seen, how ads affect page speed and layout, and whether consent signals reach your partners.
A paid subscription to the PubOS browser extension for your team: grade any page, AI briefings, ready-to-paste fixes and before-and-after history. It is offered after the audit.
A paid web app for exchange and SSP sales teams that ranks publishers by fit and alerts them when a site adds or drops a partner. It is in early access.
